Heart Support-Australia is a developing, national voluntary, non-sectarian, non-political, non-profit, heart patient support organisation established to cater for the needs and interests of the millions of Australians and their families affected by cardiovascular conditions.
Our branch network represents our key values of support, information and encouragement.
We believe Australians affected by heart conditions require a positive health enhancement effort for the rest of their lives. Members are encouraged to take active and willing roles as responsible ambassadors of the community and assume responsibility for the management of their health – ideally through programs which encourage lifetime motivation, compliance and maintenance.
Branch membership is available to individuals who:
- are awaiting or have had heart surgery;
- have an inoperable heart condition; or
- have a medically treatable heart condition; and
- are family members, friends and carers of heart patients; and
- any individual passionate about heart health, peer support and grassroots community groups!
Our branches offer free of charge peer support services to assist people affected by heart conditions. Branches meet on a regular basis, organising social events, guest speakers, recreational activities, hospital rehabilitation programs and other community work. Our members also have the ability to vote on and shape the future of the organisation!
