Heart Research Australia is dedicated to funding first-stage, innovative research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. Previously known as North Shore Heart Research Foundation, Heart Research Australia was established in 1986 by cardiologists at Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital to address the need to find new ways to reduce the devastating impact of heart disease. Because this kind of research does not attract government funding, Heart Research Australia’s work is powered by the generosity of their supporters.
Heart Research Australia provides funding for PhD scholarships and postdoctoral fellowships, two academic Chairs of Cardiology in association with the University of Sydney, specialist and support staff, and research equipment.
